Doubt it. Lady Bird is still the one I expect to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd on most ballots, but who really knows?

Re: PGA Nominations

I think it's the nostalgia thing. It brings back memories of 1950s sci-fi films that were part of the growing-up experience for both baby boomers who experienced them in real time and later generations who experienced them on TV.

Re: Web of Sex Scandals

Allen's affair with his long time girlfriends adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn has torn the Farrow family apart and I cannot muster up any sympathy for Woody Allen. "The heart wants what the heart wants" he stated back in 1992. He also has a brain but clearly no moral compass. True, but t...

He was exonerated in court long ago on charges brought by Mia Farrow who many believe put the notion of her then 7-year-old daughter Dylan's being molested by him in her head. The prosecutor declined to prosecute because he felt he couldn't get a conviction (which is often the case for sexual assau...

Re: Web of Sex Scandals

God knows I have never been Woody Allen's biggest fan. I have been uneasy about his depiction of young girls since Mariel Hemingway in Manhattan , but I find this current shaming of him abhorrent. He was exonerated in court long ago on charges brought by Mia Farrow who many believe put the notion of...

Re: R.I.P. Bradford Dillman

Fame is so fleeting. No mention is made of Suzy Parker (1932-2003), the first supermodel and Dillman's wife of forty years, who was actually the bigger star during her lifetime, until the next-to-last paragraph. She was the inspiration for Audrey Hepburn's character in Funny Face in which she has a ...

Re: Presenter Update Assistance

Thank you, Greg. I confirmed it on IMDb.

Raiders of the Lost Ark also won a special achievement award for sound effects.

My guess is these two awards were considered either scientific or technical awards, which is why they are not considered official Oscar winners.

Re: Presenter Update Assistance

According to Inside Oscar, the Thalberg wasn't given between 1962 and 1964, but Oscars.Org does confirm the Thalberg to Spiegel as a 1963 awards event.

There were no Oscars given for sound effects in 1981 or 1984 - Raiders of the Lost Ark and The River won for Best Sound.

Re: Pre-Christmas Look at the Top Races

Jodie Foster in Nell wasn't mute. She spoke her own language. Patty Duke was mute except for that one word in The Miracle Worker . It could happen with Hawkins, though. Neither Jane Wyman nor Marlee Matlin were favored to win. Wyman was up against Olivia de Havilland in The Snake Pit and Matlin was ...

Re: I, Tonya reviews

I wouldn't call Tonya Harding ugly looking. Short, chubby and graceless, OK, but not ugly, though some of the faces she made were, and her behavior certainly was.
