Re: Nominations Announcement

Maybe it's Serkis, not Haddish, who has the connection to the nominations with a planned announcement that he will receive an honorary Oscar at the Oscars (not next November) for his motion capture work.

Re: Best Supporting Actress 1972

don't think Berlin has played anything other than that same character in anything. This is obviously an old post, but I would recommend checking out Jeannie Berlin in The Night Of which starred Riz Ahmed and John Tutturro on HBO last year. Berlin is excellent as the DA and has a very powerful scene...

Re: SAG Winners

The real-life mother of Tonya Harding disputes the characterization. Well, I mean, of course she does! I don't under the Renée Zellweger comparison on a performance level. Both Janney and Zellweger's performances are exaggerations. Here's one of several news articles on the real mother: https://www...

Re: SAG Winners

Janney's performance is fictional, too. The real-life mother of Tonya Harding disputes the characterization. Janney is about as true to life as Renée Zellweger in 2003's Cold Mountain who won at the Globes, SAG and Oscars after Shohreh Aghdashloo won the triple crown of critics awards (N.Y., L.A. an...

Re: SAG Winners

The show itself, however, was one of the better ones. Kristen Bell's dig at Melania Trump's lack of follow-through on her promise to fight cyberbullying was so subtle I doubt many actually got it, but it was hilarious if you did. Rita Moreno brightened things up considerably with her presentation to...

Doubt it. Lady Bird is still the one I expect to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd on most ballots, but who really knows?

Re: PGA Nominations

I think it's the nostalgia thing. It brings back memories of 1950s sci-fi films that were part of the growing-up experience for both baby boomers who experienced them in real time and later generations who experienced them on TV.

Re: Web of Sex Scandals

Allen's affair with his long time girlfriends adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn has torn the Farrow family apart and I cannot muster up any sympathy for Woody Allen. "The heart wants what the heart wants" he stated back in 1992. He also has a brain but clearly no moral compass. True, but t...
