Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

I’ve been following your posts about the midterms and the media in my country has been covering this elections pretty intensenvily but one question I have is who will run for president in the Democratic Party. I don’t have the slightest idea on who can beat Trump in 2020. Who do you guys think is be...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

This Sunday Brasil votes for a new president. Heavy favorite to win is Jair Bolsonaro, a far right candidate with a speech 10x worse than Trump. Interesting times...

Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

Hurricane Leslie is about to hit Portugal starting in Lisbon and heading north. Windgusts in my apartment are huge right now and the peak will be between 11pm and 4am local time (it’s 8:45 pm right now).

I’m 40 years old and I don’t remember a hurricane ever hitting Portugal. Global warming it is...

My mother passed away due to a cardiac arrest while shopping at her usual grocery store just three weeks ago. So yes, it's sudden, fatal and unpredictable. She was one week away of turning 75.

Re: First Man reviews

I originally thought this might be one of the year's best films, but the low-key trailer had me lower my expectations. The Variety review in particular gives me renewed hope. The Wrap review is interesting as well, especially in its appreciation of Claire Foy. https://www.thewrap.com/first-man-film...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Just wanted to let you know that both in Portugal and Spain we are under a massive heat wave. In Lisbon the minimum temperature during all night was 90 degrees Fahrenheit and in some regions of Portugal we will reach 118 degrees, which will set an all time record in Europe. It has been reported that...

Re: Best Cinematography 2010

True Grit and Black Swan are two films that I absolutely loathe.

I revisited Social Network a couple of times, most recently just last week. It still leaves me completely cold.

The King’s Speech is a fine film, but not deserving of a win in this category.

Voted for Inception

A Single Man should have won this.

I haven’t seen White Ribbon. Out of the other nominees I’ll vote for Inglorious Bastards.

This is an amazing lineup.

Voted for Deakins but any of the other nominees would be a great winner as well.
