Re: The Last 2018 Oscar Post: SAG/BAFTA

It's no secret the TV precursors have seemed to spoil Oscar suspense in this millennium, but I've always sort of blamed the Broadcasters most, for their craven desire to be Oscar predictors, and for their seeming ability to set an agenda. That latter may still be an issue, if you think their choice...

Re: 91st Oscars: Ceremony

From there, things got better, with the Cooper/Gaga duet as elegantly staged as any musical number I can remember I just heard from an awards insider that Bradley Cooper actually staged and practically directed that number himself. Question of the night: so many people addressed Ryan Coogler, I hav...

I think they engrave the director's name to the trophy though.

I calculated our Best Picture ballots in the way the Academy does it and our winner was The Favourite with Roma as the runner-up.

Re: Oscar Predictions Contest

THE RESULTS!!!! Well, well, well. No one got triple points. I thought the Bohemian Rhapsody Sound Editing win was gonna result in double points but there were FOUR people who somehow predicted so no double points. But THREE people actually went against the tide and predicted Olivia Colman, earning t...

Re: Trivia

First time since the Best Picture category was expanded, every film nominated for Best Picture won at least one Oscar. Second time. First was 2015 when Birdman won Best Picture. It won 4. Grand Budapest won 4. Whiplash won 3. Boyhood , The Theory of Everything , Selma and American Sniper each manag...

Re: 91st Oscars: Picture

It's an okay film. I didn't find it as offensive as Woke/Film Twitter did. It's not Crash bad. This win feels more like a throwback to the Best Picture wins from the 1980's and 1990's rather than 2010's.

It at least spared us a Bohemian Rhapsody win.
