Re: The 2019 Honorary Oscars

Re: The 2019 Honorary Oscars

It should've been Ullman and von Sydow in tandem. With all due respect to Wertmuller and Studi....theirs has not been a lifetime of towering impact on world cinema.

Re: Best Picture & Director 2018

First Reformed for Best Picture. Nothing on the slate moves me.

Re: Best Supporting Actress 2018

Wow. Not the most impressive in my opinion. Tavira was good but not noteworthy. Stone was very good at times, but her overall performance never seemed to gel in a way that made sense dramatically or stylistically for me. Weisz was fine, but I wasn't enthused. Re: Best Original Screenplay 2018

Not Roma in which the screenplay served mainly as background, with some scattered points of character drama. Re: Best Supporting Actor 2018

Re: Best Actress 2018

Olivia Colman because while I would classify her's as a supporting performance (she was background dressing for the fighting in the foreground), she gave the most memorable and unique insightful performance. Yalitza Aparicio was sensitively natural - but overall more presence than revealing acting. ...

Re: The Last 2018 Oscar Post: SAG/BAFTA

As this is the last discussion thread for the recent Oscars and it appears we have nothing else left to say, is this a good time to restart our game? Perhaps even an expedited run-through of the 2018 categories since we've just vetted them? Honestly, I found this year's competition dull, so personal...
