BEST SONG
“Come Alive” from The Greatest Showman

I don't believe this song was on the list of eligible songs.

Re: BAFTA Nominations & Predictions

I think Darkest Hour has a strong run at some of the below-the-line nominations, particularly Cinematography, Score, and Production Design. So far, every film has missed at least one major Guild citation...but Three Billboards only missed WGA, where it was ineligible, so you would have to argue that...

Interesting tidbit:

The last five Documentary Oscar winners have also won here; that should bode well for Jane or LA 92

Re: Pre-Christmas Look at the Top Races

Unlike Michael Keaton, Mickey Rourke, or Sylvester Stallone (albeit in support), who were frontrunners who failed to take the brass ring, Oldman has more than a couple of performances that people cite as being great ones. Therein lies the distinction, IMO. Plus, those were comeback stories, where o...

Re: 2016-2017 Tony Awards

I made treks to New York for the last two Follies revivals. I think I am in line with the other people on this board about them. In 2001, I was 19 years old and more enamored with the idea of seeing Follies on stage than anything else. I think the production had problems, but I was just taken in by ...

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

If your interested, Julia Louis Dreyfuss surpassed Alec Baldwin to become the second most nominated person in SAG history, one behind Edie Falco. She could tie or even surpass Baldwin/Juliana Marguiles as the most wins ever this year if she wins one or two of her awards.

Re: The Netflix Effect

And Twin Peaks also stayed to a pretty close episodic structure, too...every episode was pretty much around an hour, each episode felt somewhat self-contained (in that there were stories that began and ended within each one...you could name almost any of them: the one in New Mexico, the one about Do...

The Netflix Effect

A question that I have been mulling. There has been a lot of talk about "The Netflix Effect" and how it is going to get in the way of Mudbound ratcheting up nominations. But, are we sure the effect is really that strong? Most of this seems to stem from Beasts of No Nation not getting any n...

Re: Animated Short Film Shortlist

I didn't find Life Smartphone that bloody, and that won't necessarily make it untouchable by the Academy. They did give the award to Logorama, a film that I loved but declared would never win because it was too foul and bloody.
