Re: Nominations Announcement

And now if she doesn’t get a nomination, then the whole thing will seem a little cruel for her to have been involved.

Re: Nominations Announcement

Has the Academy ever had someone who’s in the conversation for a nomination, participate in the nominations announcement?

Re: Best Supporting Actress 1972

don't think Berlin has played anything other than that same character in anything. This is obviously an old post, but I would recommend checking out Jeannie Berlin in The Night Of which starred Riz Ahmed and John Tutturro on HBO last year. Berlin is excellent as the DA and has a very powerful scene...

Re: Best Supporting Actress 1978

I had the pleasure of meeting Dame Maggie Smith last month while I was dining at the Ivy in London attending a special celebrity server night. (Smith was a diner, not a server.) She was dining with four others, including Samantha Bond who played her daughter Rosamund on Downton Abbey . After dinner,...

Well, I mean, of course she does!

I don't understand the Renée Zellweger comparison on a performance level.

Re: SAG Winners

And that was the scene they decided best shows off Timothee Chalamet's performance? I mean, I know he's pretty much destined to lose to Oldman now, but they could have chosen a better clip.

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

Was so excited to see my friend Malaya on stage with the ensemble of Three Billboards accepting a SAG! She plays the local news reporter in the film. We were in a play together in college so that was really fun for me.

Re: Web of Sex Scandals

Scarlett Johansson’s speech at last year’s Women’s March was one of the most moving of the day. I remember almost her entire speech now a year later.

I don’t think she’s necessarily deserving of ire. She seems like a really strong, outspoken, and articulate person.

Re: Nominations Landscape -- Part 2: The Rest

Wonderful read, Tee. I do have to stick up for Christopher Plummer though. I think he’s just excellent in All the Money in the World (really, the best thing about the film). So I can see why he’s being considered. I think the goodwill of subbing in at the last minute is the cherry on top of what is ...

He was exonerated in court long ago on charges brought by Mia Farrow who many believe put the notion of her then 7-year-old daughter Dylan's being molested by him in her head. The prosecutor declined to prosecute because he felt he couldn't get a conviction (which is often the case for sexual assau...

Re: The Post reviews

God, this movie was boring. For a fun drinking game, take a shot every time someone is looking down at a piece of paper with wide, dramatic, Stanislavski-acting eyes. You’ll need an IV. It felt like, “We’re gonna take a little All the President’s Men and mix in some Spotlight and, oh, let’s sprinkle...

Yes, it is, Franz.

Did they announce last year’s acting nominees alphabetically?
