Andrew Sean Greer - Less Runners-Up: Elif Batuman - The Idiot Hernan Diaz - In the Distance By coincidence, I am just in the middle of Batuman's excellent novel (it is on the shortlist of the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), and I've just started on Greer's winning novel. So far, so good! And by anoth...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing
Prediction: when we look back on this day in history, learning that Michael Cohen was indeed in Prague in late summer 2016 will turn out to be way more significant than the strike on Syria -- despite the latter being the shiny object that's knocked everything else off cable news stations for the pa...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing
This has been the best birthday present ever! (I’m fucking 40 today - gah!!) Trump is apparently in complete meltdown mode right now inside the White House. I really couldn’t tell you what will happen by week’s end but, like Tee, I think this has clearly revealed that Mueller is heading into a new (...

Sean Penn and Barbra Streisand have both openly gushed about the film. Could ...

Re: The Americans: Final Season
I’m very interested to see what they do with the Laurie Holden character this season. She seems quite the wildcard.

Have you seen A Quiet Passion? Cynthia Nixon gives an incredible performance, one of the best lead female performances of the year.

Yes!! I cannot wait. It’s amazing how almost newly relevant the show now is with all this Russia stuff going on. I am steeling myself for an incredible final season. I heard that this season begins with a three-year time jump to 1987.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are on Colbert tonight, by the way.

Re: Oscar Predictions Contest
I came up with my predictions about twenty minutes before the show started. I’m surprised that I tied for second place having made incorrect predictions for a lot of the big awards (Picture, Actor, Original Screenplay, Original Song).

Re: 90th Oscars: Ceremony & Pre-Show Discussion
