Another good suggestion! Let's hope they all live to be a hundred so they have enough time to reward all of them :)

Re: Golden Globe reactions

Dick Van Dyke should be the recipient next year before its too late. I was thinking Betty White, but Van Dyke would be a wonderful choice too. Some others who could well win this new award are: William Shatner And I noticed that there are still quite a few actors out there who could get the DeMille...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Yeah, I believe we're approaching DEFCON 1. And the final result is going to be a lot closer to what the so-called alarmists were predicting than what the "realists" have been maintaining. Fasten your seat belts. When even Fox News is willing to discuss President Trump as someone who &quo...

Re: 2018 BAFTA's

Could Linda Cardellini become this year's Jacki Weaver and just roll up on Green Book's coattails? That's...actually a great call. She was mentioned/thanked/praised a few times in those Green Book acceptance speeches, putting her name in voters' minds at just the right time. I can see this happenin...

Re: AARP Movies for Grownups Nominations

How many people have actually heard of "All is True"? I think it was a horrible idea to release this movie so limited that I don't even think I saw one ad for it. Where did it play? It's wider releasing sometime this year... so I'm not gonna even count it as a 2018 movie.

Re: 2018 BAFTA's

I had Blunt pegged until I actually saw Mary Poppins Returns and poor Emily Blunt gets lost in the ensemble. There are long stretches of the movie where she's either not in the scene or off to the side, not talking. It's insane and baffling, to put it mildly. I think Emily Blunt getting a lead actr...

Re: DGA Nominations

I had a feeling I should've changed my prediction to include Adam McKay. He's now up for a TV DGA award and Feature Film DGA award at the same time. Can't say whether he deserves his spot, though, as I haven't seen "Vice" yet.

Re: DGA Predictions

Looking over the TV nominees, I suddenly feel like I should be predicting Adam McKay for "Vice." But I'll leave my predictions as is. :)

I chose "Apocalypto" that year, which didn't make the Cinematography list at Oscar-time.

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Simultaneously frustrating yet brilliant in away, releasing this op-ed anonymously. On the one hand we yearn to know who it could be, but on the other one imagines President Trump dismissing this as a stunt by the NY Times -- "fake news" and so he might not even bother trying to figure out...

Re: Kicking Off the Fall Season

Anne Thompson has proclaimed Incredibles 2 the leader for animated feature, which I think is wrong on two counts – first, that (as BJ has documented) Pixar sequels are 0-for-nomination to date, and, second, that Isle of Dogs, as a well-reviewed original effort, would seem a much more likely choice....
