Re: The 19th Annual Who'll Be Back?
It is probably cheating to name Michelle Pfeiffer here, but her last nomination was a quarter century ago and no matter what people thought of mother!, they seemed to praise her return to form (I still haven't seen it). Re: The 19th Annual Who'll Be Back?
Superb post, great reading indeed.
Michelle Williams should be in this group as well. And a case can be made also for Jessica Chastain. Incidentally, both of them manage to be satellite options up to nominations morning.

Re: Best Supporting Actress 1978
I had the pleasure of meeting Dame Maggie Smith last month while I was dining at the Ivy in London attending a special celebrity server night. (Smith was a diner, not a server.) She was dining with four others, including Samantha Bond who played her daughter Rosamund on Downton Abbey . After dinner...

Ivory's nod broke the record for oldest man ever to receive a nomination, while Varda is the oldest woman (and oldes...

Re: 2017 Oscar Nominations
First random thoughts: - I, like almost everyone else, was shocked by McDonagh's failure to achieve the BD nod. At first I thought TBBOE,M was automatically doomed and this had became an open road for TSOW to be declared at once BP, but this was my mind, so accostumed to the old days, playing tricks...
