We are on a private message board, Harry. I will NOT give abusers a platform to continue their abuse.

Re: 91st Oscars: Ceremony

More specifically, it's like someone who's mentally abusive constantly beating on the target and then showing egotistical lack of remorse or acknowledgement of the role they played in the abuse. Having an opinion is one thing, berating others for theirs and insisting that only YOU have the correct a...

I tried to reach out to him, but haven't heard back. I think it's safe to say that another great poster was driven away by egocentric absolutism.

Re: 91st Oscars: In Memoriam

Finney did enough work in America to be well known. Olmi, who's name I recognize, isn't that familiar to me personally.

Re: 91st Oscars: In Memoriam

The problem the Academy is facing isn't one of too many too include. It's too many unfamiliar, non-Americans to include. As I was typing those names out during the in memoriam section, I was struck by just how many unfamiliar ones were foreign-born artists. It was almost as if they forced themselves...

Re: 91st Oscars: Best Directing

Denys Arcand does not have the Oscar for The Barbarian Invasions in his possession, so it's definitely not the director's to keep.

Re: 91st Oscars: Best Directing

That's a tradition that only started in 2014, but even the Academy rules specifically state that it's accepted by the director, but goes to the country of origin.

And no one won Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film. The award is to the country, the director merely accepts the trophy.

Re: 91st Oscars: Picture

Ordinary People tied with Tess for 6 each, the lowest number of nominations for a BP nominee in 1980. Annie Hall tied with The Goodbye Girl for 5 each in 1980 In the Heat of the Night tied with The Graduate for 7 each in 1967 Grand Hotel obviously A few have been close as second-least (or tied for s...

Re: 91st Oscars: Picture

I'd rank it 83 on the list of 91 Best Picture winners just ahead of Crash, Cimarron, Tom Jones (yeah, I don't care for it, sue me), The Broadway Melody, The Greatest Show on Earth, A Beautiful Mind, Cavalcade, and Braveheart.
