Okay...still relatively MIA, lurking occasionally, but just needed to, I don't know, vent. Spew, perhaps? Just spew a little. Lord knows, these are not very good movies. The first 'X' was a fairly stilted calling card of post-'Matrix' neo-fascist cool, but still stylish and entertaining. The second...

No, the movie is about the relationship between King Kong and Ann Darrow. That's the centerpiece, and the hairy one doesn't even show up until the second hour. I'm sick of seeing Gyllenhaal, Anthony Hopkins, and Jamie Foxx showing up in the wrong categories, but this is just stupid.

Funny thing: as I think back on The New World, I don't remember many individual scenes, just compositions and the sensation of overwhelming uplift. And one other thing: antsy. I remember feeling very antsy for the movie to end so I could watch the DVD when it comes out. I couldn't knock out of my m...

Not just merely, but really, really, really. Transamerica gets into a little bit of interesting territory at the end but doesn't do anything with it and aside from some staggering physical demands (and some fine scenes at the end), Huffman really isn't asked to go beyond one note. She's certainly c...

I'm watching Casablanca while TA-ing for my Aesthetics of Cinema class (thank God for wireless), and I came across a small capsule online by Rosenbaum where he posits that Rick used to be a communist before seeking out those Casablancan waters. Is this true? If so, it would be fitting that he was i...

Sorry I opened up a whole thing here, especially because on any given day I really understand your point... You close by saying: "You think it's unethical to fry someone in a chair? Try, ice picking them more than twenty times and not giving them a proper burial, let alone an opportunity to say goo...

Well, he does have a pregnant wife. In all fairness, gay film reviewer Ed Gonzalez who gave the film **1/2 also says that the wives are the emotional centers of the film.

I actually mentioned her. Very briefly. I wrote "And Young?" Should've probably followed that up with more, but yes I did read that in your post. (NOTE: I wrote that post immediately after reading that it wasn't a banner, but a T-shirt. I don't know what kind of misinformation was being leaked but ...

I just turned on MSNBC while I read this. Horse$hit. Utter, utter horse$hit. I can understand somebody having their banner taken away from them; I don't think it's right, but I understand it. But this is pathetic. There's no reason why this woman should not be allowed to wear a T-shirt that only me...

Well, unfurling a banner amidst the State of the Union is pretty misguided. She should have known that something was going to happen, that they wouldn't let her just wave the thing. To give Bush credit where credit's due, I think that his first half hour was pretty strong. Not illuminating by any m...

I just had to post this, re: Bush's State of the Union address. Flipping through news channel and some Aryan Fox F ucker had this to say: "Bill Clinton famously rewrote chunks of his State of the Union address on the way in his limousine. We are being told that this will not be the case tonight." R...

Rented The Aristocrats. Probably the worst movie I've ever seen that I kinda liked. Not because it's a visual mess (worst editing of the year, period), but because ultimately we're just watching people who are desperate for attention, desperate to be the defining teller of this stupid joke. It's di...

Apparenty Mike D'Angelo walked out on it, heard later that there was some very amusing child beauty pageant humor to come, but hates profane granny humor.

Hmmm...Tadpole Part Deux?

I don't know quite how to work my way into this, so I'll just say it outright. I hate "Rocky" and I think Sylvester Stallone's character might be a sexual predator. He's kind of a low life and a failed fighter who thinks quite highly of himself, and he seduces a visibly retarded girl who on several...
