Another one.

A female member of the Acting branch. Her comments on Get Out will aggravate the fans of that movie.

He just sounds like an asshole. I respect that he recognized Blade Runner 2049 twice, but ugh his rationale was very smug in places.

To quote: "I don't feel that if I went to Ebbing, Missouri, that is how it would be." Of course not, it's a fictional place. It was filmed in North Carolina albeit based on McDonagh's real-life citing of the first two of the three billboards seventeen years earlier when he was driving through the U.S. (from which his imagination made up the rest), something this moron would never be caught doing himself. "If I went to Ebbing, Missouri", indeed!

Maybe he mentioned Ebbing in a hypothetical way as in it could also be "Hicksville USA" and he feels the whole plot seems unreal. Even if the plot is fiction the actions depicted by the characters appear unnatural - as in "real" people may not act like that.

But yes you are right, Magilla, he does come across as a total fuckin' moron.

Hollywood Reporter's "brutally honest" Academy member ballot.

Apparently, he's a male member of the Producer's branch not associated with any of the nominees.

I'm extremely foul-mouthed while driving. Otherwise, not so much.

A follow-up article about the 14 new Academy voters and how they are voting. Further intriguing thoughts and things to watch out for (including a hopeful Metcalfe upset - a strange phrase to use before the TV awards lined up for Janney). They all swear quite a lot though, is this a thing with younger people?

Yes but last I checked Phantom Thread has 6 nominations, not 4. What happened to journalistic integrity.

Well, fair enough.

I mean I can't sit through Jennifer Lawrence latest film Red Sparrow. I've seen the trailer twice, groaning whilst burying my head in my hands both times. I've been sitting through Cold War spy cinema for over 4 decades and I can smell out a stinker weeks before a release and that does Red Sparrow do. So I just don't need to go there and relive one of the previous bad experiences.

Precious Doll, I don't think Jennifer Lawrence has any problem with her attention span.

In the link you posted she says in the article (about Phantom Thread):

“Is it just about clothes? Is [Reynolds Woodcock] kind of like a narcissistic sociopath and he’s an artist so every girl falls in love with him because he makes her feel bad about herself and that’s the love story? I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know. I’ve been down that road, I know what that’s like, I don’t need to watch that movie,” said Lawrence.

Most probably "Phantom Thread" brought back bad memories of her failed relationship with Darren Aronofsky which is why she couldn't sit through more than 3 minutes of the film.
