They were designed by Harvey Weinstein, right?

There wasn't anything special about the costumes in The Artist, but it evoked old Hollywood fashion, so I figured it would win.

The clips they used weren't fantastic. They were Dujardin-centric. Bejo's outfits were marvelous.

I've seen the film, so I know the costumes, but what I remember could have been rented out from any wardrobe department. Suppose it's nothing more than the momentum of being a Best Picture front runner.

Sure, but HUGO was not expected to win cinematography. So it is 1 for HUGO and 1 for THE ARTIST.

Still, THE ARTIST is already doing well, but HUGO is nipping at its heals.

How can it be a sweep if it already lost two awards?
